Service Technician - Generators

About the role

The Generator Engineer is responsible for diagnosing, repairing and maintaining diesel and gas generator sets to ensure reliable power for customer sites and rental fleets across the UAE and Oman. This hands‑on position requires strong technical expertise, quick problem‑solving and the ability to respond to emergency breakdowns in the field.

Key responsibilities

• Perform troubleshooting, repair and scheduled preventive maintenance on various generator brands (e.g., Perkins, Cummins, FG Wilson).
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical and control system faults using testing tools and software.
• Inspect and replace defective components such as alternators, control panels, engines and fuel systems.
• Conduct load testing, synchronization, commissioning and on‑site installation of generator units.
• Calibrate and set up AMF/ATS panels and remote monitoring systems.
• Maintain accurate service reports, job cards, maintenance logs and spare‑parts records.
• Coordinate with the Service Supervisor and Parts team to secure required materials.
• Respond to breakdowns and emergency service calls across the region, ensuring compliance with safety standards and electrical codes.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
• 3–7 years of hands‑on experience servicing diesel generator sets, preferably in the rental industry.
• Strong communication and customer‑handling abilities.
• Ability to work independently under pressure in field conditions.

Required skills

• Diesel and gas generator maintenance.
• Electrical troubleshooting of generators and control panels.
• Control system diagnostics (e.g., Deep Sea, ComAp).
• Load bank testing and synchronization procedures.
• Generator commissioning and on‑site installation.
• AMF/ATS panel calibration and remote monitoring setup.
• Reading wiring diagrams, schematics and service manuals.
