SMS Specialist (Safety Management System)

About the role

The SMS Specialist will implement, monitor and maintain Air Arabia’s Safety Management System (SMS) across its operations, ensuring compliance with GCAA regulations and internal policies.

Key responsibilities

• Review and update the ABY and FSTD SMS manuals annually and whenever regulatory or policy changes occur.
• Monitor the GCAA website for safety‑related regulatory updates and integrate them into the SMS.
• Manage daily safety reports, feed them into the Risk Register and ensure timely investigation and closure.
• Process IQSMS reports, liaise with operational departments until closure, and maintain the IQSMS database.
• Update the risk register with data from IQSMS, FDM events, hazards, audit findings, and GCAA safety alerts.
• Report safety occurrences to the GCAA ROSI system.
• Prepare and facilitate quarterly SAG meetings, bi‑annual SRB meetings, and Fatigue SAG meetings, including presentations, minutes and follow‑up actions.
• Temporarily assume duties of a Flight Data Specialist as required.

Required profile

• Knowledge of Civil Aviation regulations and safety management principles.
• Experience handling safety reports, investigations and corrective actions.
• Ability to work with risk registers and safety databases.
• Strong coordination skills with operational departments.
• Flexibility to cover Flight Data Specialist responsibilities when needed.

Required skills

• Familiarity with IQSMS database management.
