Special Education Teacher – Inclusive Learning Support

About the role

Support students with special educational needs (SEN) and additional learning needs through individualized teaching and interventions. Collaborate with the Head of Inclusion (HOI) to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and targeted support strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Adapt and differentiate learning activities and resources to meet individual student needs.
• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group interventions to support academic, social, emotional, and communication development.
• Monitor, assess, and document student progress, reviewing support strategies as required.
• Work closely with class and subject teachers to promote effective inclusion within the mainstream classroom.
• Communicate regularly with parents and relevant staff regarding student progress and support needs.
• Liaise with the HOI, school leadership, and external specialists where appropriate.
• Promote student wellbeing, independence, confidence, and positive behaviour while maintaining safeguarding standards.

Required profile

• Skilled teacher with solid commitment to teaching and learning and strong subject knowledge in relevant area.
• Excellent communication skills able to build relationships with students and colleagues and contribute to wider school life.

Required skills

• Knowledge of special education needs and inclusive teaching strategies.
• Experience developing and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
