Specialist Internal Medicine

About the role

The Specialist in Internal Medicine provides comprehensive, evidence‑based medical care to adult patients across inpatient, outpatient and long‑term care settings. Working within Amana Healthcare’s multidisciplinary teams, the role focuses on diagnosing, treating and managing a wide range of acute and chronic conditions while ensuring continuity of care and optimal patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions in adult patients.
• Conduct comprehensive assessments, develop treatment plans and monitor clinical progress.
• Manage complex chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular and respiratory disorders.
• Provide specialized care for patients in rehabilitation, long‑term and post‑acute care settings.
• Coordinate care with specialists, allied health professionals, nursing and rehabilitation staff.
• Review and interpret laboratory, imaging and other diagnostic investigations.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to individualized care plans.
• Offer preventative health recommendations and patient education.
• Respond to medical emergencies and acute clinical deteriorations.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with safety, infection control and quality initiatives.
• Engage in clinical governance, audits, peer review and continuous professional development.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS, MD or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
• Completion of a recognized residency training program in Internal Medicine.
• Specialist qualification recognized by the Department of Health.
