Specialist Physician – Child & Adolescent Psychiatry

About the role

The Specialist Physician in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry delivers high‑quality, evidence‑based, patient‑centred care within SEHA. The role combines clinical excellence with supervision of junior medical staff and participation in departmental initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Support and adhere to hospital policies, performance‑management processes and departmental initiatives.
• Ensure continuous medical coverage within the division and attend divisional meetings.
• Report, investigate and respond to untoward incidents as required.
• Diagnose and treat patients according to best‑practice standards under the supervision of the Consultant Physician.
• Lead ward rounds, reassess in‑patients and out‑patients, and document clinical information promptly.
• Supervise junior medical staff and share responsibility for their patient care.
• Liaise with other specialties, participate in multidisciplinary meetings and obtain informed consent for procedures.
• Accept referrals from emergency, primary care and other departments and provide out‑of‑hours on‑call coverage on a rotational basis.

Required profile

• Board‑certified or equivalent qualification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
• Demonstrated clinical excellence and ability to supervise junior staff.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.
• Commitment to multidisciplinary collaboration and patient safety.

Required skills

• Diagnostic assessment in child and adolescent mental health.
• Treatment planning and implementation for psychiatric conditions.
