Specialist Physician – General Radiology

About the role

The Specialist Physician in General Radiology provides high‑quality, evidence‑based, patient‑centered care within the radiology division. Working under the supervision of a Consultant Physician, the role includes clinical duties, supervision of junior staff, and participation in departmental initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat patients according to best‑practice standards for radiology.
• Supervise and train junior medical staff, sharing responsibility for their patient care.
• Lead ward rounds, reassess in‑patients and out‑patients, and document clinical information promptly.
• Participate in multi‑disciplinary meetings and liaise with other specialties for holistic patient care.
• Ensure appropriate utilization of resources and compliance with hospital policies on admissions, consultations, procedures, and discharge.
• Provide out‑of‑hours on‑call coverage on a rotational basis, including evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
• Communicate clinical information to patients and families with consent, and maintain collaborative relationships with staff.
• Support reporting, investigation, and response to untoward incidents and undertake other administrative or clinical duties as requested.

Required profile

• Qualified medical doctor with a specialization in radiology.
• Ability to work under the supervision of a Consultant Physician.
• Commitment to clinical excellence, patient safety, and continuous learning.
