Specialist Physician – Obstetrics & Gynecology (Ward)

About the role

The Specialist Physician – Obstetrics & Gynecology (Ward) provides high‑quality, evidence‑based, patient‑centred care within the OBGYNE ward. Working under the supervision of a Consultant Physician, the role also supports the training and supervision of junior medical staff.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver clinical care in line with best practice standards for obstetrics and gynecology, including diagnosis, treatment, and follow‑up of in‑patients and out‑patients.
• Lead ward rounds, reassess patients regularly, and document clinical information promptly.
• Supervise and train junior medical staff, sharing responsibility for the care they provide.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, liaise with other specialties and support services, and ensure coordinated patient care.
• Adhere to hospital policies on admissions, consultations, surgical procedures, discharge, and outpatient follow‑up.
• Assist with on‑call coverage on a rotational basis, including evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
• Support departmental initiatives, performance management processes, and incident reporting.
• Ensure informed consent is obtained and communicate clinical information to patients and families.

Required profile

• Qualified medical practitioner in obstetrics and gynecology.
• Experience working in a hospital ward setting, preferably under supervision of a consultant.
• Commitment to clinical excellence and continuous learning.

Required skills

• Clinical assessment and diagnostic skills in obstetrics and gynecology.
• Proficiency in documenting patient records accurately and timely.
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
