Specialist Physician – Rheumatology & Immunology

About the role

We are seeking a Specialist Physician in Rheumatology & Immunology to join our multidisciplinary team at SSMC in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will deliver high‑quality, evidence‑based, patient‑centred care while supporting the development of junior medical staff.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat rheumatology and immunology patients in accordance with best practice standards.
• Lead ward rounds, reassess in‑patients and out‑patients, and document clinical information promptly.
• Supervise and train junior medical staff, sharing clinical expertise and ensuring safe patient care.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, liaise with other specialties and support services.
• Adhere to hospital policies on admissions, consultations, procedures, discharge, and outpatient follow‑up.
• Provide on‑call coverage on a rotational basis, including evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
• Support performance management processes, incident reporting, and departmental initiatives.
• Prepare patients for procedures, obtain informed consent, and communicate clinical information to patients and families.

Required profile

• Medical degree with specialist qualification in Rheumatology and Immunology.
• Current registration with the relevant medical licensing authority.
• Demonstrated clinical experience in inpatient and outpatient rheumatology care.
• Ability to supervise and mentor junior doctors.
• Commitment to evidence‑based practice and continuous professional development.

Required skills

• Clinical assessment and management of rheumatologic and immunologic conditions.
• Proficiency in documenting and reviewing patient investigations.
• Effective utilization of hospital resources and electronic medical records.
