Staff Nurse – Post‑Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)

About the role

The Staff Nurse in the Post‑Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) provides age‑specific, patient‑centered care to individuals recovering from anesthesia. Working on scheduled shifts, the nurse ensures safe monitoring, assessment, and coordination of care for patients and their families.

Key responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive, age‑appropriate patient assessments and continuous critical‑care monitoring.
• Develop, revise, and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
• Document all patient data accurately in the medical record according to hospital standards.
• Maintain and prepare supplies, equipment, and medication, including safe handling of narcotic and controlled substances.
• Participate in unit meetings, committees, and Continuous Quality Improvement activities.
• Ensure compliance with Joint Commission International Accreditation requirements and mandatory education.
• Assist with patient transfers and coordinate discharge planning as needed.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse qualification with current licensure to practice in the UAE.
• Experience in critical care or post‑anesthesia settings preferred.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary environment.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and competency maintenance.
