Superintendent, Marine Operations (Dry)

About the role

The Superintendent, Marine Operations (Dry) leads the continuous improvement of health and safety performance, ensures safe and reliable vessel operations, and drives cost‑effective fleet utilization. The role provides leadership to ship crews, coordinates with internal teams, and sets operational targets to maximise vessel uptime.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and monitor the marine budget, ensuring financial performance aligns with targets.
• Review and mitigate marine‑related risk assessments and oversee emergency response for vessel incidents.
• Conduct annual on‑board navigation audits, provide training, and follow up on deficiencies.
• Maintain vessel documentation, certifications, and compliance with international regulations, flag state and classification society requirements.
• Coordinate ISM, ISPS, MLC, ISO, SIRE and Rightship inspections and audits.
• Manage marine contracts, requisitions, and ensure compliance with IMO, OCIMF and ICS standards while controlling costs.

Required profile

• Master’s Certificate of Competency (or equivalent) and ISM Lead Auditor certification.
• ISPS Company Security Officer certificate.
• Minimum four years of experience in marine operations, including time as Chief Officer and Master on dry and bulk vessels.
• Strong English communication, report writing ability and physical fitness for ship inspections.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office applications.
• Experience conducting navigation audits and applying maritime regulatory procedures.
