Transport Engineer

About the role

dteq, part of the deugro group, is seeking a Transport Engineer to join its Abu Dhabi team. You will work on complex heavy‑lift and out‑of‑gauge (OOG) projects, ensuring safe and efficient transport routes for on‑shore and off‑shore cargo.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute heavy‑lift / OOG transportation for on‑shore and off‑shore projects.
• Conduct route, port and site surveys using state‑of‑the‑art methods.
• Perform feasibility studies for various transport modes, including barges and HLV shipments.
• Prepare stowage and lashing plans, installation drawings, lifting and rigging plans in AutoCAD.
• Generate technical proposals, method statements and support RFQs with commercial considerations.
• Review and assess stowage and lashing calculations from internal and external sources.
• Maintain project documentation, databases and provide subject‑matter expertise to clients and deugro group companies.
• Supervise cargo handling and transport activities across the ME region, with a travel ratio of about 25%.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a transport engineer or in a similar heavy‑transport role.
• Strong knowledge of heavy‑transport activities, including RoRo operations and barge ballasting.
• Familiarity with industry standards such as DNV GL ST‑N001 and IMO CSS.
• Hands‑on, proactive attitude and ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
• Excellent written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AutoCAD.
• Advanced use of MS Office / 365.
• Knowledge of DNV GL ST‑N001 and IMO CSS standards.
• Understanding of heavy‑transport engineering concepts (RoRo, barge ballasting, stowage and lashing calculations).
