VAT Manager – Advisory & Compliance

About the role

BDO is seeking a VAT Manager to lead advisory and compliance services for a broad portfolio of clients across sectors such as financial services, real estate, FMCG and hospitality. The role involves managing engagements from start to finish, building trusted client relationships and contributing to business development.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality VAT advisory and compliance services to diverse clients.
• Lead complex VAT engagements, providing technical judgement and risk assessment.
• Act as primary contact for a client portfolio, ensuring timely communication and professional service.
• Identify new business opportunities, participate in pitches and convert prospects into long‑term relationships.
• Research and interpret UAE VAT legislation, FTA clarifications and GCC developments.
• Prepare and review VAT returns, advisory memoranda, technical opinions and client correspondence.
• Manage FTA audit processes, voluntary disclosures, reconsideration requests and objections.
• Supervise, coach and mentor junior and mid‑level VAT consultants.

Required profile

• In‑depth knowledge of UAE VAT law and GCC tax environment.
• Proven ability to manage end‑to‑end VAT projects for corporate clients.
• Strong client‑facing skills with a focus on relationship building.
• Experience in business development and client retention.
• Leadership experience supervising junior staff.

Required skills

• Preparation and review of VAT returns and related documentation.
• Drafting advisory memoranda and technical tax opinions.
• Handling FTA audit procedures and dispute resolutions.
• Mentoring and coaching tax professionals.
