Vice President for Academic Affairs

About the role

The Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) will join the senior leadership team of American International University. Reporting to the President, the VPAA oversees academic advising, support services, and policy enforcement to drive student success, retention, and timely graduation.

Key responsibilities

• Act as conduct officer for all alleged violations of academic policies, including the Student Code of Conduct and Academic Honesty Policy.
• Lead the planning, development, and evaluation of academic development programs and operational processes.
• Collaborate with University departments and Student Life to design and implement academic intervention programs for at‑risk students.
• Develop, administer, and monitor program budgets, forecasting staffing, equipment, and material needs.
• Provide training and professional development for staff to enhance contributions to student success.
• Maintain accurate records, generate reports for retention, and oversee transition programs for new, transfer, and graduate students.
• Create and update policy and procedure manuals related to academic services.
• Identify, implement, and evaluate technology solutions that improve departmental operations.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Education, Higher Education Administration, or a related field.
• Extensive experience in academic affairs, student support, or university administration.
• Proven leadership in managing budgets, staff development, and policy enforcement.
• Strong understanding of higher‑education best practices and accreditation standards.
