3rd W/K Engineer – Dredger

About the role

The 3rd W/K Engineer supports the Chief Engineer and 2nd Engineer in the safe and efficient operation of a dredger’s engine room. This role involves monitoring, operating and maintaining propulsion, power generation and auxiliary plant systems while ensuring compliance with maritime regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain an engineering watch in line with STCW requirements and company procedures.
• Operate and maintain main engines, generators, pumps, compressors, hydraulic and fuel systems.
• Carry out planned preventive maintenance and routine inspections using the vessel’s Planned Maintenance System (PMS).
• Troubleshoot machinery faults, report defects and maintain accurate engine room logs and records.
• Support dredging operations by ensuring continuous availability of propulsion, hydraulic and auxiliary equipment.
• Participate in bunkering, fuel transfer, machinery overhauls and emergency response drills.
• Supervise engine ratings during maintenance and operational activities.

Required profile

• STCW III/1 Officer in Charge of an Engineering Watch (OICEW) Certificate of Competency or higher.
• Experience on dredgers or other marine/offshore vessels is preferred.
