Assistant Manager Internal Audit

About the role

The Assistant Manager – Internal Audit will lead end‑to‑end audit engagements across Government of Ras Al‑Khaimah entities. Reporting to the Head of Internal Audit, you will help shape a risk‑based audit plan, mentor junior staff, and deliver actionable recommendations that strengthen governance and controls.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in the annual risk assessment and update the audit universe.
• Lead individual audit engagements from planning through reporting, ensuring timelines and scope are met.
• Design audit programs, objectives and test procedures tailored to each entity’s risk profile.
• Conduct fieldwork, including walkthroughs, control testing, data analysis and stakeholder interviews.
• Prepare high‑quality working papers in line with IIA Standards.
• Identify control weaknesses, root causes and develop practical recommendations.
• Supervise and coach Associate Auditors, reviewing their work and providing feedback.
• Monitor engagement budgets and ensure productive fieldwork.
• Draft clear audit reports with findings, risk ratings and recommendations.
• Follow up on prior recommendations and ensure compliance with IIA Global Standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related business field.
• Professional certification (CIA, ACCA or CPA).
• 6–8 years of internal or external audit experience, preferably in the public sector.
• Experience in a Big 4 or multi‑entity audit environment is an advantage.
