Assistant Resident Engineer – Civil

About the role

Parsons is seeking an Assistant Resident Engineer (Civil) to support construction supervision of water distribution network projects for a major utility client in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. You will work closely with the Resident Engineer to ensure safe, on‑schedule delivery in line with client standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise water network construction activities including excavation, pipe laying, valve installation and backfilling.
• Perform day‑to‑day site inspections, approve supervision activities and verify contractor submissions against drawings and specifications.
• Monitor progress, report on schedule performance and support timely completion of works.
• Coordinate with QA/QC, HSE and client staff to ensure compliance with method statements, risk controls and quality records.

Required profile

• Minimum Engineering Degree (BE/BSc) in Civil Engineering, certified by the Ministry of Higher Education.
• At least 5 years of relevant engineering experience, preferably in consultancy.
• Strong knowledge of water network installation, testing, disinfection and commissioning practices.
• Fluent English reading and writing, able to work a six‑day onsite week.

Required skills

• Water network installation, testing and commissioning.
• Reading and interpreting civil drawings, specifications and inspection/test plans.
• Computer applications for record management, reporting and engineering/construction software.
• Understanding of HSE requirements, permit‑to‑work systems and OSHAD codes.
