About the role
The Assistant Resident Engineer – Electrical supports the Resident Engineer in overseeing the construction, installation, testing and commissioning of high‑voltage (132 kV and above) AIS/GIS substations. The role ensures that all works meet project specifications, quality standards, safety requirements and schedule commitments.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise erection and installation of transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, CTs, VTs, isolators, protection & control panels, SCADA and related equipment.
- Review contractor work against approved drawings, specifications and applicable standards.
- Support testing, commissioning and witness site acceptance tests.
- Monitor contractor performance, progress and quality, and prepare inspection, progress and punch‑list reports.
- Coordinate with contractors, client representatives and project stakeholders to resolve site issues.
- Verify compliance with HSE requirements and promote a safe working environment.
- Assist in reviewing technical submittals, method statements and inspection requests.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 10+ years of experience on electrical substation projects, specifically 132 kV and above.
- Experience with AIS/GIS substations, construction supervision and testing & commissioning.
- Membership in relevant professional engineering bodies is an advantage.
