Associate Director - Commercial, Rail

About the role

AECOM is seeking an experienced Associate Director of Commercial for its Rail project in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The role drives commercial strategy, oversees project execution and leads a team to deliver results on a major infrastructure initiative, aligning with organizational goals and client expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute commercial strategies that optimize revenue, manage costs and drive profitability across all project phases
• Mentor team members within organizational policies and establish commercial procedures and protocols
• Analyze commercial data and market trends to inform decisions and identify growth opportunities
• Manage contract negotiations, vendor relationships and supplier agreements
• Oversee project administration, technical coordination, financial management and client satisfaction
• Direct planning, design and construction management, and ensure adherence to engineering specifications, plans and regulatory requirements
• Manage budget, financial forecasting and cost control; collaborate with the site construction team
• Identify and mitigate commercial and operational risks, and ensure compliance with UAE regulations and industry standards
• Monitor KPIs and project metrics to drive continuous improvement

Required profile

• Minimum 15+ years of progressive experience in commercial management, project management or construction engineering in infrastructure or transportation
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Business Administration, Project Management or a related field
• Leadership experience managing and mentoring cross-functional teams
• Preferred: experience with high-speed rail or rail infrastructure, familiarity with the UAE regulatory environment, PMP/PRINCE2 certification, construction management software experience, and knowledge of sustainable construction methods
