Associate Professor of Mass Communication

About the role

The American University of Ras Al Khaimah invites applications for a full‑time Associate Professor in its Mass Communication Program. The successful candidate will join a growing department, contribute to teaching, research, and service, and help shape the future of the program as it moves toward accreditation and expansion.

Key responsibilities

• Teach eight undergraduate courses per year (4/4 load), including core and elective classes.
• Develop and deliver active‑learning experiences using high‑impact educational practices.
• Maintain a robust research agenda with publications in indexed journals.
• Participate in university and school committees and professional associations.
• Support the program’s accreditation process and future reconfiguration into a Department of Communication and Media Studies.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in communication studies or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated teaching effectiveness with evidence of high‑impact practices.
• Record of scholarly publications in reputable, indexed venues.
• Experience working with globally diverse student populations.
• Familiarity with ACEJMC accreditation processes.
