Associate Vice President - Learning and Development

About the role

The Associate Vice President of Learning and Development develops and executes a comprehensive learning and talent development strategy to support workforce excellence in a dynamic healthcare environment. The role covers leadership development, clinical and non-clinical training, e-learning strategies and succession planning, and aligns with national healthcare standards, organizational goals and workforce needs.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the overall L&D strategy aligned with organizational and HR objectives, and lead the design and delivery of training programs.
• Ensure compliance with UAE healthcare education and accreditation standards, and oversee clinical education programs with medical and nursing leadership.
• Champion leadership and talent development frameworks, including high-potential programs, and oversee competency frameworks for clinical and non-clinical roles.
• Lead digital transformation in learning through e-learning platforms and simulation-based training, and build partnerships with academic and regulatory bodies locally and internationally.
• Manage the L&D budget, set KPIs for training effectiveness, and prepare reports and dashboards for executive leadership.
• Supervise a team of L&D professionals, coach them and oversee performance, while supporting change management and succession planning.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, Healthcare Administration or a related field.
• 13+ years of progressive experience in Learning and Development within healthcare or a comparable industry.
• Professional certifications such as CPLP, SHRM-SCP or CIPD are preferred.
• Experience in the UAE or GCC healthcare environment is highly desirable.

Required skills

• Digital training in healthcare, with a focus on patient experience and Hospital Information Systems (HIS).
• Knowledge of AI applications in learning and development (preferred).
• In-depth understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design and performance improvement.
• Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and virtual learning tools.
• Data analysis skills to measure and optimize learning effectiveness.
• Knowledge of healthcare regulations and accreditation frameworks (e.g. DHA, DOH, JCIA).
