AutoCAD Draftsman - Metal Division

About the role

An engineering team in Sharjah and Jebel Ali is looking for an AutoCAD Draftsman for its Metal Division. The role suits a drafting professional with experience in architectural and structural metal works who produces accurate technical drawings supporting project delivery. The draftsman prepares shop, fabrication and installation drawings and works closely with Design Engineers, Project Engineers, Production and Site teams.

Key responsibilities

• Draft detailed shop drawings, fabrication drawings, GA (general arrangement) drawings and installation drawings in AutoCAD.
• Develop fabrication details for architectural metal works, structural steel, stainless steel, mild steel and custom metal products.
• Prepare cutting lists, material schedules and fabrication information for workshop production.
• Revise drawings according to consultant comments, site conditions and engineering changes.
• Coordinate with engineers, QA/QC and site teams, review architectural and structural drawings for discrepancies, and help resolve technical and fabrication issues.
• Maintain drawing registers, revision logs and document control records, distribute approved drawings and organize electronic drawing archives.
• Support material take-offs and quantity verification, and provide technical support to fabrication teams, including clarifying details with workshop supervisors and incorporating value engineering.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Drafting Technology, Architecture or a related field.
• At least 3-5 years of experience as an AutoCAD draftsman in architectural metal works, structural steel, aluminum, façade or construction; UAE/GCC experience highly preferred.
• Essential experience preparing fabrication drawings for metal manufacturing and installation projects.
• Technical drawing accuracy, attention to detail, problem solving, time management, communication, teamwork, quality focus and ability to work under deadlines.

Required skills

• Advanced AutoCAD, shop drawing preparation, fabrication and GA drawings, architectural metal works and structural steel detailing.
• Material take-off (MTO) and reading architectural and structural drawings.
• Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, Tekla Structures or Advance Steel is an advantage.
