Bus Guardian (School Support Assistant)

About the role

Aspen Heights British School is looking for a Bus Guardian, a support role within the early years team. The person helps teachers prepare lessons and materials, supports children during class, playtime and transitions, and keeps the classroom tidy and safe.

Key responsibilities

• Help with lesson planning and assessment, including organizing and managing books and files for each child.
• Prepare materials or equipment for lessons, group work or individual children, and assist children with their tasks.
• Read stories to groups of children and accompany children on visits.
• Prepare ICT equipment such as computers, iPads, digital cameras, DVDs and BeeBots.
• Prepare art and craft materials and tidy them away, and laminate or photocopy resources.
• Supervise children in the cloakroom (toilet), playtimes, start time and home time, and take part daily in the rota for playground supervision.
• Comfort distressed and vulnerable children in line with safeguarding procedures, and report incidents to the teacher or Head of Early Years.
• Maintain confidentiality, mount and display children's work, label and store equipment, and uphold the school's professional reputation.

Required profile

• Minimum diploma or equivalent qualification.
• At least 2 years' school experience as a bus guard or teacher assistant.
• Commitment to safeguarding, wellbeing and safety, and adherence to school policies and procedures.
• Willingness to follow vetting procedures, including an online due diligence check, references and criminal background checks covering the last 10 years.
