Business and Economics Teacher (British Curriculum)

About the role

GEMS Cambridge International School in Abu Dhabi is looking for an experienced Business and Economics teacher to start in January 2027. The post is for secondary students and requires a strong subject specialist with proven experience teaching both Business Studies and Economics within the British Curriculum.

Key responsibilities

• Teach Business and Economics according to the British Curriculum and examination specifications, under the guidance of the Head of Faculty – Humanities and Social Sciences.
• Plan, prepare and deliver lessons adapted to the needs, abilities and attainment of each student and group.
• Assess, record and report on students' progress, attainment and behaviour, and analyse data to adapt practice and plan interventions.
• Mark and give feedback on students' work in line with the school's policy, and contribute to assessments, reports and references.
• Advise students on educational and social matters, subject pathways and further education.
• Work with colleagues, parents and guardians, and take part in curriculum design, appraisal and pastoral care arrangements.
• Take part in CPD, peer review and lesson observations, and support new teachers and student teachers.
• Support students with additional needs through IEPs and work with Learning Support Assistants and the Inclusion team.
• Maintain good order and discipline, safeguard students' well-being and report safeguarding concerns, and monitor student attendance.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Education or a closely related field.
• Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, B.Ed., QTS or equivalent).
• Minimum of 3 years' teaching experience.
• Previous experience teaching the British Curriculum is essential; experience teaching both Business Studies and Economics is required.
• Experience teaching IGCSE/GCSE and AS/A Level is strongly preferred; experience with Cambridge and/or Pearson Edexcel specifications is highly desirable.
