Cafe Customer Service Associate – Retail

About the role

The Cafe Customer Service Associate will be the front‑line representative of the M&S Cafe, delivering friendly and efficient service to guests while supporting store operations. Working as part of the retail team, you will help maintain a welcoming environment, manage stock, and drive sales through upselling and cross‑selling.

Key responsibilities

• Engage with customers, address inquiries and basic complaints, and escalate issues when necessary.
• Maintain visual merchandising standards and keep the sales floor clean and organized.
• Receive deliveries, restock shelves, and assist with inventory control to ensure product availability.
• Recommend products, upsell and cross‑sell based on customer needs, staying updated on product information.
• Operate the cash register, process transactions accurately, and uphold cash‑handling procedures.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a customer‑facing role, preferably in a retail or café environment.
• Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain store standards.
• Comfort with upselling and cross‑selling techniques.
