Careers Consultant, Dubai

About the role

The Careers Service at Heriot-Watt University's Dubai campus helps students and graduates make informed career choices through professional career guidance and information. The Careers Consultant works alongside other consultants and collaborates with senior school staff, academic colleagues, the Employer Liaison Coordinator, alumni team and employers. The post reports to the Careers and Industry Engagement Manager (Dubai Campus).

Key responsibilities

• Provide careers information, advice, guidance and coaching to students and graduates, including one-to-one sessions, e-guidance, group seminars, coaching and mentoring.
• Deliver centralised and school-based careers education sessions to students and graduates.
• Develop a plan to support graduates seeking employment after graduation and improve Graduate Destination Survey outcomes.
• Work with employers and academic schools to deliver career education, guidance and employability skills, and represent the University at careers fairs and employer events.
• Gather and analyse UAE labour market intelligence and contribute to the Employer Engagement Strategy.
• Plan the Annual Plan of general and programme-specific careers activities and market the service to colleagues so they can refer students.
• Maintain current knowledge of career routes and labour market trends through continuous professional development.
• Use information technology to deliver and communicate the service, and use customer feedback to improve it.
• Keep statistical records, contribute to university projects and maintain quality standards and accreditation.
