Carpenter - Luxury Hotel

About the role

A Carpenter at Waldorf Astoria Dubai International Financial Centre, a Forbes Five-Star luxury hotel, supports the daily Engineering operations by maintaining, repairing and enhancing the hotel's furniture, fixtures and wooden structures. The role covers guestrooms, public areas, meeting spaces and back-of-house areas, ensuring all carpentry work meets the highest standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance and corrective repairs of furniture, fixtures, wooden structures and fittings.
• Carry out general carpentry work, including furniture assembly, modification, installation, repair and replacement.
• Repair and replace damaged furniture, wall coverings, ceiling panels, gypsum boards, drywall and other carpentry elements.
• Design, construct, modify and assemble wooden components and furniture according to operational needs.
• Operate woodworking machinery, power tools and electrical hand tools safely.
• Support maintenance across guestrooms, meeting rooms, public areas, back-of-house areas and Engineering facilities, and respond promptly to maintenance requests and breakdowns.
• Maintain tools, equipment and work areas in a clean, safe and organised condition.
• Support Engineering projects, inspections and departmental initiatives, and follow hotel, Hilton, Engineering, health and safety, fire and life safety procedures.
• Communicate with colleagues and other departments and assist in emergencies involving Engineering and Maintenance.

Required profile

• Diploma or relevant qualification in Engineering or a related technical field.
• Previous experience in a similar role within a luxury hotel environment; previous experience in a luxury or Forbes Five-Star hotel is an advantage.
• Practical knowledge of carpentry techniques, furniture repairs, installation and woodworking.
• Good understanding of preventive maintenance procedures and workplace safety standards.
• Positive, proactive attitude, good verbal and written communication, excellent grooming and professional standards.
• Flexible, able to work independently and in a team, with strong attention to detail.
