Cast Technician – Orthopedic Support

About the role

The Cast Technician provides essential support to Orthopedic Surgeons across outpatient clinics, inpatient wards, and operating rooms. The role focuses on applying, adjusting, and removing casts and traction devices while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and accurate documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Assist Orthopedic Surgeons with outpatient, inpatient, and operating‑room procedures.
• Apply, change, and remove casts and various traction devices as directed.
• Monitor patients and promptly report any significant changes in condition to a registered nurse.
• Document all activities in the electronic medical record system.
• Facilitate communication between patients, families, and the interdisciplinary care team.
• Maintain departmental inventory of supplies and ensure a clean, safe clinical environment.
• Provide health education relevant to the patient’s condition and record it in the health record.

Required profile

• No specific academic qualification required.
• On‑the‑job training with at least two years of experience post‑certification in a related field.
• Desirable: British Casting Certificate (BCC).
