Charge Nurse - Medical

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Charge Nurse to lead our medical unit in Al Ain. The successful candidate will provide professional leadership, supervise nursing staff throughout each shift, and ensure high‑quality patient care in accordance with DOH and organizational policies.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the unit during each shift, acting as the primary point of contact in the Nurse Manager’s absence.
• Maintain safe staffing levels and appropriate patient‑to‑nurse ratios based on acuity.
• Oversee patient assessments, care planning, implementation and evaluation, ensuring accurate documentation.
• Coordinate admissions, discharges, transfers and overall patient flow within the medical ward.
• Support staff in clinical decision‑making, conflict resolution and workload prioritisation.
• Ensure proper medication administration, including high‑alert drugs, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Participate in clinical audits, research and evidence‑based initiatives.
• Promote competency development and education for junior staff and new hires.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or an Associate degree in Nursing from Canada or the USA (minimum two‑year program) with successful completion of the national licensing exam (NCLEX‑RN or Canadian Licensing Exam).
• Current DOH licence or eligibility.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in a medical unit.
• Ability to mentor, coach and provide constructive feedback to nursing staff.

Required skills

• Medication administration, including high‑alert drugs.

• Knowledge of DOH regulations and hospital policies.
