Cleaning Attendant – Campus Facilities

About the role

The American University in the Emirates is looking for a reliable Cleaning Attendant to keep its campus clean, safe and welcoming. You will work across classrooms, offices, corridors, restrooms and other facilities, ensuring high standards of hygiene and presentation.

Key responsibilities

• Clean and maintain classrooms, offices, corridors, stairways, common areas and other university spaces.
• Sanitize restrooms, replenish supplies and ensure proper waste disposal.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust and polish floors and surfaces using appropriate methods.
• Empty waste bins, manage recyclables and report shortages or equipment issues.
• Disinfect high‑touch surfaces such as doors, handles, desks and tables.
• Maintain cleanliness of furniture, fixtures, glass surfaces and windows.
• Monitor and restock cleaning and hygiene supplies.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–3 years of experience in cleaning, housekeeping or a similar role.
• Physically able to stand, walk, bend, lift and operate cleaning equipment.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Flexible to work different shifts, weekends or special events.

Required skills

• Operating floor‑cleaning machines (vacuum cleaners, scrubbers, polishers).
• Safe handling and application of cleaning chemicals and disinfectants.
• Use of basic cleaning tools such as mops, brooms, dusters and squeegees.
