Commercial Lead - Energy Sector

About the role

Wood is looking for an accomplished Commercial Lead to join its team and drive growth in the eastern peninsula region. The role sits within the Oil, Gas & New Energies business, which delivers large and complex projects for national and international energy companies. It works closely with senior leadership and key clients to identify opportunities, develop partnerships and turn ambitious plans into results.

Key responsibilities

• Maximise commercial performance while managing business and project risk before and after contract award
• Commercialise sub-Business Group service offerings to support growth and strategy
• Develop team members with in-depth commercial and cross-functional expertise
• Ensure compliance with commercial and contracting policies and resolve disputes, claims and cash collection issues
• Embed commercial governance and assurance across the sub-Business Group, project and portfolio
• Support tender governance, including commercial review of tender documents, pricing and commercial qualifications
• Develop project commercial plans, subcontracting strategy and profit improvement plans, and maintain project commercial DOAs
• Prepare cost analyses to maximise recoverable costs, minimise disallowable costs and ensure adequate accruals and provisions
• Lead post-award administration: contract setup, invoicing, rate reviews, change orders, bonds, letters of intent and collateral warranties
• Coordinate contract reviews, risk management and contractual negotiations with the contracts and bid teams
• Prepare cashflow forecasts, expenditure and invoice preparation, and deliver main contract and subcontract close-outs
