Consultant Emergency Medicine Physician

About the role

We are seeking a Consultant in Emergency Medicine to lead and supervise high‑quality, evidence‑based care at Sheikh Tahnoon Bin Mohammad Medical City. The role involves direct patient management, mentorship of junior staff, and collaboration across specialties.

Key responsibilities

• Lead delivery of emergency care, diagnosing, managing and treating patients in line with best practice.
• Conduct examinations, obtain histories, order and interpret investigations, prescribe treatments and develop comprehensive care plans.
• Supervise and train junior doctors, residents and GP staff, overseeing ward rounds and outpatient clinics.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and ensure holistic patient management.
• Provide on‑call coverage on a rotational basis, including evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with hospital, DOH and SEHA policies.
• Engage in quality improvement activities such as audits, peer review and risk management.
• Communicate effectively with patients and families, obtaining informed consent for procedures.

Required profile

• MBBS or equivalent with a recognized specialty training programme (Board certification, Royal College fellowship or DOH‑approved qualification).
• Post‑graduate degree (MD, MS or DNB) preferred.
• 3–7 years of post‑specialty clinical experience in a multidisciplinary setting.
• Valid DOH licence to practice in Abu Dhabi, including successful Primary Source Verification.
