Consultant - General Surgery / Vascular

About the role

Royal Khalifa City Hospital Abu Dhabi is recruiting a Consultant in General Surgery / Vascular. The role covers ambulatory and hospitalized surgical patients, including complex cases within the consultant's competence and approved privileges, and includes out-patient care, consultations and after-hours emergency coverage.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert surgical care to ambulatory and hospitalized patients, including pre- and post-operative cases, within approved privileges
• Perform out-patient consultations and provide advice to physicians and other specialists
• Order diagnostic tests and X-rays, determine diagnoses and prescribe therapy
• Manage clinical risks, monitor quality indicators and take part in morbidity and mortality reviews, peer review and quality assurance
• Take part in in-service training, CME/CNE, departmental meetings, committees and guideline development
• Adhere to infection control, patient safety, EHSMS, DOH, JCI and ISO regulations
• Provide after-hours emergency coverage for vascular and trauma cases

Required profile

• Qualified and licensed medical practitioner
• At least 3-5 years of post-qualification experience at consultant level (independent of country)
• At least 1 year of consultant-level experience in a Tier 1 country as defined by the UAE healthcare regulator
• Basic medical degree and a recognized fellowship or diploma
• Certification and registration in a specialty recognized by the UAE authority
• Active and valid life support certification (BLS, ACLS, PALS, ATLS, NRP)
