Consultant in Acute Medicine (Western Qualified)

About the role

A leading private hospital in the UAE seeks a Western‑qualified Consultant in Acute Medicine to assess and manage patients with acute medical conditions, working closely with emergency, internal medicine and critical care teams.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and manage patients presenting with acute medical illnesses and undifferentiated symptoms.
• Provide rapid diagnosis, stabilization and appropriate treatment for acute conditions and exacerbations of chronic diseases.
• Coordinate admissions, investigations, treatment plans and discharge planning.
• Collaborate with Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, Critical Care and other specialties.
• Recognize deteriorating patients and arrange escalation of care when required.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and follow patient‑safety protocols.
• Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement and continuing professional development.

Required profile

• Medical degree with recognized postgraduate specialist qualification in Acute Medicine or Internal Medicine and substantial acute medical experience.
• Relevant Western qualification (e.g., UK CCT/CCST, Irish CSCST, US Board Certification, Canadian Royal College, FRACP or equivalent).
• Strong experience in acute medical assessment, stabilization and management of complex patients, preferably in a tertiary hospital or acute medical unit.
• Excellent clinical decision‑making, communication and multidisciplinary teamwork skills.
