Consultant Paediatric Infectious Disease

About the role

The Al Ain Region is seeking a Consultant in Paediatric Infectious Disease to join Tawam Hospital. This senior clinician will lead evidence‑based care for children with infectious conditions, ensuring high‑quality treatment across inpatient and outpatient settings.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise delivery of high‑quality, evidence‑based paediatric infectious disease care.
• Conduct patient examinations, obtain histories, order and interpret diagnostics, prescribe therapies, and develop comprehensive treatment plans.
• Oversee and train junior medical staff, including specialists, GPs and residents.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and participate in multi‑disciplinary meetings.
• Provide out‑of‑hours on‑call coverage on a rotational basis.
• Document clinical information accurately and comply with hospital, departmental and DOH policies.
• Participate in clinical audits, peer review and risk management initiatives.
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients and families, obtaining informed consent for procedures.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) with postgraduate qualification (MD, MS, DNB) and successful completion of a recognised specialty training programme.
• 3‑7 years of post‑specialty clinical experience in a multidisciplinary setting.
• Eligibility for, or a valid, Department of Health Abu Dhabi (DOH) licence, including primary source verification, DOH exam (unless exempted), and a good‑standing certificate.
