Consultant – Pediatric Craniofacial Surgery

About the role

Black Pearl is recruiting on behalf of a well-established healthcare provider in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi for a Consultant in Pediatric Craniofacial Surgery. The role provides highly specialized surgical care for children with congenital and acquired craniofacial conditions in a complex, multidisciplinary pediatric environment. It combines clinical judgment, compassionate communication, multidisciplinary teamwork and a strong commitment to quality and patient safety.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and surgically manage craniosynostosis, facial clefts, craniofacial trauma, congenital deformities and complex reconstructive conditions.
• Plan staged treatment jointly with neurosurgery, plastic surgery, maxillofacial surgery, ENT, ophthalmology, orthodontics and pediatric anesthesia.
• Perform craniofacial reconstruction and related procedures within approved clinical privileges.
• Lead preoperative selection, informed consent, perioperative planning and longitudinal postoperative follow-up.
• Maintain detailed outcomes, complication and operative-log data and contribute to multidisciplinary craniofacial clinics.
• Provide safe, evidence-based, patient- and family-centered care in line with professional standards, hospital policies and approved privileges.
• Supervise junior medical staff, support multidisciplinary decision-making and communicate effectively with patients and families.
• Take part in clinical governance, incident review, quality improvement, credentialing, continuing professional development and departmental education.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with infection prevention, medication safety, privacy and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Medical degree, recognized Plastic Surgery or other DOH-accepted surgical specialty qualification, plus a formal Craniofacial Surgery fellowship with substantial pediatric training; the award must be recognized under the UAE Professional Qualification Requirements.
• Completion of internship and active, unrestricted registration in the current or most recent country of practice.
• Tier 1 qualification and post-qualification experience required for a DOH Consultant title, including recent independent pediatric craniofacial practice.
• Eligibility to obtain a Department of Health – Abu Dhabi Consultant licence for the applicable base specialty/title, with recent clinical activity and no unresolved licensing or standing concerns.
• Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certification; a detailed pediatric craniofacial operative logbook is required.

• Microsurgery and complex craniofacial reconstruction credentials are highly desirable.
