Consultant Pediatric Emergency Medicine

About the role

The Consultant Pediatric Emergency Medicine will join the emergency department at SKMC in Abu Dhabi, delivering high‑quality emergency care to children. Working under the supervision of senior consultants, the role involves direct patient management, supervision of junior staff, and participation in on‑call duties.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat pediatric emergency patients according to best‑practice standards.
• Lead ward rounds, reassess in‑patients and out‑patients, and document clinical information promptly.
• Supervise junior medical staff and share responsibility for their patient care.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and coordinate care with other specialties.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies on admissions, consultations, procedures, discharge, and follow‑up.
• Provide out‑of‑hours on‑call coverage on a rotational basis, including evenings, nights, weekends, and public holidays.
• Support departmental initiatives, performance management, and incident reporting.
• Maintain effective communication with patients, families, and the wider care team.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) with specialization in Pediatric Emergency Medicine.
• Relevant qualifications meeting SEHA Tier 1, 2, or 3 standards.
• Experience supervising junior medical staff and delivering emergency care in a hospital setting.
• Commitment to adhere to SEHA policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
