Consultant Physician – Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation

About the role

The Consultant Physician in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation leads the delivery of high‑quality, evidence‑based care for patients within the division. This senior clinical role involves diagnosing, managing and treating patients while serving as a role model of clinical excellence and providing mentorship to junior medical staff.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and supervise the clinical activities of junior physicians, ensuring safe and effective patient care.
• Diagnose and treat patients according to best‑practice standards for physical medicine and rehabilitation.
• Lead ward rounds, reassess in‑patients and out‑patients, and document clinical information promptly.
• Participate in peer‑review, productivity and utilization review processes and support performance‑management initiatives.
• Assist the Division Chief with scheduling, recruitment, and ensuring adequate medical coverage.
• Attend divisional meetings, multidisciplinary case discussions and on‑call rotations covering evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
• Coordinate with other specialties, support services and external referrals to provide holistic patient care.

Required profile

• Board‑certified physician in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation with extensive clinical experience.
• Demonstrated leadership and teaching abilities for junior staff.
• Strong commitment to evidence‑based practice and continuous quality improvement.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients, families and multidisciplinary teams.
