Contracts Engineer

About the role

The Contracts Engineer will manage the commercial aspects of projects, working closely with the delivery team to ensure successful project outcomes. The role requires strong commercial and technical knowledge, risk management expertise, and the ability to drive cash flow and procurement activities.

Key responsibilities

• Perform the commercial function of the project while interfacing closely with the delivery team to ensure project success.
• Demonstrate high-level commercial and technical knowledge as part of the project team.
• Identify and manage project risks, maintain risk registers, and implement contingencies.
• Comply fully with NMDC commercial procedures at the site level.
• Maximise cash flow by providing timely inputs for valuations, invoicing, and payment receipt.
• Ensure project teams maintain strong commercial understanding and motivation.
• Provide input for timely procurement of sub‑contractors.
• Prepare variations and claims and contribute to dispute preparation.
• Develop deep understanding of contractual, commercial, insurance, and legal processes to protect NMDC’s position.
• Promote knowledge sharing and develop a team capable of innovative thinking.
