Control Room Operator

About the role

The Control Room Operator ensures smooth and continuous operation of gas and steam turbines, waste‑heat boilers and associated plant equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Working either from the control room or on‑site, the operator follows instructions from the shift supervisor or main control room to maintain plant performance.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and monitor a predefined set of gas turbines, steam turbines and waste‑heat boilers, including start‑up and shutdown procedures.
• Control rectifier transformers and auxiliary plant services from the control room.
• Perform routine checks, record parameter readings and promptly report any deviations.
• Assist supervisors and power operators during start‑up, shutdown and maintenance isolation activities.
• Maintain emergency preparedness, ensure standby equipment availability and uphold high housekeeping standards.

Required profile

• Diploma in Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in operations of a modern power station.
• Familiarity with the specific gas turbines, steam turbines and waste‑heat boilers listed for Power Plant 1, 2 and 1A.

Required skills

• Operation and monitoring of gas turbines (e.g., FR5, FR9B, FR9E, units 21‑23).
• Operation and monitoring of steam turbines (e.g., units 14, 16, 18, 22).
• Operation of waste‑heat boilers and associated steam headers.
• Control of rectifier transformers and auxiliary plant equipment.
• Use of control‑room instrumentation and accurate recording of plant parameters.
