Cost Engineer – Engineering Design & Estimation

About the role

The Cost Engineer will independently design engineering systems across multiple concurrent projects, delivering accurate cost estimates, impact studies, permits and detailed drawings. This role combines technical design, site evaluation and stakeholder coordination to ensure projects meet code compliance and budget targets.

Key responsibilities

• Perform system design calculations, equipment selection, layout planning and drawing preparation.
• Plan and conduct site evaluations, investigations and technical research to support design decisions.
• Review project documents, specifications and design options, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.
• Prepare cost estimates, impact studies and permit documentation.
• Mentor or supervise junior staff, assign tasks and verify work accuracy.
• Apply standard engineering practices and software tools to produce high‑quality deliverables.
• Build and maintain internal and external relationships with project teams and clients.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant experience.
• Strong command of core engineering principles applied to multidisciplinary projects.
• Proven problem‑solving ability and sound engineering judgement.
• Effective communication and detail‑oriented work style.
