Deputy Chief Flight Instructor

About the role

The Deputy Chief Flight Instructor will support the Core Flying Phase of the Multi Pilot License (MPL) programme, ensuring compliance with GCAA regulations and flydubai Academy standards. This senior training position oversees contracted flight training providers and drives quality and safety across all flight instruction activities.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with all applicable GCAA regulations, flydubai Academy procedures and safety requirements for assigned flight training activities.
• Oversee and monitor flight training conducted by contracted providers to guarantee delivery according to approved standards.
• Manage Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with training providers and verify that expectations are met.
• Standardise and assure quality of flight instruction across all training phases.
• Conduct Instrument Rating Instructor (IRI) training for Synthetic Flight Instructors using Flight Training Devices (FTD) and Flight and Navigation Procedures Trainers (FNPT).
• Monitor cadet performance, training progress and competency development, identifying gaps and recommending improvements.
• Support development, implementation and continuous improvement of training programmes and syllabi.
• Maintain accurate, complete and regulatory‑compliant training records and documentation.
• Coordinate operational matters with contracted providers to ensure effective training delivery.
• Verify instructor qualifications, authorisations, competency and currency, and monitor recency requirements for both instructors and cadets.
• Ensure compliance with flight time, duty time and fatigue‑management regulations and report performance or compliance issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree (minimum 3 years of study).
• Fluent English.
• GCAA Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) holder with SEP rating and at least 2,000 flight hours.
• 7–9 years of experience with CPL, Single‑Engine, Multi‑Engine, Instrument Rating, Flight Instructor Rating, Class Rating Instructor, Multi‑Crew Pilot Licence Instructor (MPLI) and MPL Instructor (MPLII) qualifications.
