Design Engineer – MEP

About the role

The Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for the design, analysis, and coordination of electrical systems in construction and renovation projects. Reporting to the Senior Electrical Engineer, the role involves preparing technical drawings, load calculations, and system layouts while ensuring compliance with local regulations and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop electrical system designs, including Single Line Diagrams, load schedules, lighting layouts, power distribution and ELV systems.
• Perform short‑circuit, voltage‑drop calculations and cable sizing; ensure compliance with ADDC, ADM, Civil Defense and other authorities.
• Prepare technical reports, BOQs and material specifications; conduct design reviews and clash detection.
• Utilize AutoCAD, Revit, Dialux, ETAP and other tools to create 3‑D models and simulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 5–10 years of experience in electrical design engineering, preferably in MEP or hotel construction.

Required skills

• Electrical system design and power distribution.
• Load calculations, short‑circuit studies and Single Line Diagrams.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Dialux and ETAP.
• MEP coordination with HVAC, plumbing and fire protection teams.
• Knowledge of IEC, NEC, BS, DEWA, ADDC, ADM and ESTIDAMA standards.
• Lighting design, ELV systems (BMS, access control, CCTV, fire alarms, telecom).
• Voltage‑drop and short‑circuit analysis.
• Specification writing and BOQ preparation.
• Sustainability and energy‑efficiency strategies.
