Design Lead - Primary (Electrical) - Substation

About the role

The Design Lead (Primary) will oversee primary engineering activities for AIS/GIS substation projects across multiple regions. The role involves reviewing and executing layout engineering, supporting BIM 3D modelling, and coordinating interdisciplinary checks.

Key responsibilities

• Review engineering documents from remote offices, assign translation, and ensure compliance with local standards.
• Coordinate with contractors and internal teams (ACWA, NEGU) to obtain drawing approvals and resolve construction issues.
• Lead a team of design engineers and draughtspersons to deliver drawings on schedule, within budget, and to high quality standards.
• Validate vendor deliverables, inspect equipment, and support site execution during pre‑bid, commissioning, and warranty phases.

Required profile

• 10‑12 years of experience in primary engineering design for substations or power distribution projects.
• B.E./B.Tech in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
• Strong knowledge of national and international codes, substation equipment layouts, and interdisciplinary design aspects.

Required skills

• Proficiency with BIM 3D modelling for substations.
• General awareness of Dialux and MS Office.
• Desirable familiarity with ETAP, PSCAD, and CYMGRD.
• Ability to perform design and sizing calculations for busbars, UPS, DG, LT transformers, earthing conductors, etc.
