Developer Experience Engineer (AI/LLMs)

About the role

The Institute of Foundation Models (IFM) is looking for a Developer Experience Engineer to own end‑to‑end integration, validation and deployment of frontier foundation models. You will act as the first customer, testing deployment paths, ensuring smooth onboarding for external engineers and bridging research labs with production teams.

Key responsibilities

• Systematically test and validate deployment paths across environments such as Hugging Face, vLLM, TensorRT‑LLM and Ollama, guaranteeing a friction‑free experience.
• Build and maintain production‑grade quickstarts, boilerplate repositories and reference implementations for advanced RAG and tool‑calling use cases.
• Serve as the technical gatekeeper for model release readiness, tracking validation pipelines, regression logs and release issues.
• Collaborate with research scientists, HPC infrastructure teams and community managers to translate bugs and friction points into actionable engineering tasks.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, applied machine learning or MLOps within a product‑building or deep‑tech environment.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills with a proven ability to manage cross‑functional technical projects end‑to‑end.
• Excellent communicator capable of distilling complex technical issues into clear status updates for leadership.

Required skills

• Python programming
• Experience with AI/LLM deployment frameworks (Hugging Face, vLLM, TensorRT‑LLM, Ollama)
• Debugging of deployment scripts, dependency management and error‑log analysis
• Familiarity with APIs, SDKs and open‑source AI tooling
