Digital Art Image Research Assistant

About the role

De Art is an independent, internet-based visual arts media platform that shares art, artists and cultural knowledge with a wider audience. It is looking for a detail-oriented Digital Art Image Research Assistant in Dubai to identify and document suitable images for editorial and educational content. The role combines visual research, source verification and image documentation to support accurate and responsible digital publishing.

Key responsibilities

• Research artworks, artists, exhibitions and visual references relevant to planned editorial content.
• Locate suitable images through official museum collections, gallery websites, artist portfolios and other reliable sources.
• Verify image captions, artwork titles, artist names, dates and source information where available.
• Record image credits, source links and licensing or permission requirements.
• Distinguish between images available for public viewing and those authorised for reuse or publication.
• Maintain organised records of researched images and their metadata.
• Check image relevance, resolution, clarity and consistency with editorial requirements.
• Flag uncertain attributions, conflicting information and unclear usage rights for editorial review.
• Coordinate with writers and editors to match visual materials with articles and other digital content.
• Follow copyright, attribution and responsible image-use practices.

Required profile

• A strong interest in visual arts, art history, photography and digital media.
• Good online research and source-verification skills, with strong attention to detail and accurate record-keeping.
• Clear written communication and the ability to document sources consistently.
• Ability to manage several research tasks and meet agreed deadlines.
• Previous experience in visual research, digital publishing, image libraries or arts-related work is an advantage.
• Good English reading and writing; additional languages are a plus.

Required skills

• Familiarity with image formats, basic image-quality criteria and digital file organisation.
• An understanding of copyright, image licensing and attribution principles, or a willingness to learn them.
