Director of Interior Design

About the role

The Director of Interior Design will lead the creative direction and delivery of interior design across Al Futtaim Real Estate’s diverse portfolio, which includes retail, residential, commercial and hospitality projects. Reporting to senior leadership, you will ensure that every design aligns with the brand, quality standards and sustainability goals while delivering an exceptional user experience.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the interior design function from concept development through to final execution, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Develop and maintain interior design brand standards, guidelines, and technical specifications for FF&E and OS&E.
• Oversee design phases, including layouts, detailed drawings, and specification packages, ensuring compliance with program requirements.
• Stay current on market trends, materials and techniques, and integrate relevant innovations into projects.
• Assess and select external design consultants, define evaluation criteria, and manage the procurement of design packages.
• Conduct on‑site observations during construction to verify compliance with design intent and quality standards.
• Represent Al Futtaim Real Estate in meetings to review proposals, contracts and mock‑ups.
• Monitor departmental KPIs and motivate a team of interior designers, draftsmen and support staff.

Required profile

• Minimum 20 years of interior design experience with a strong portfolio in hospitality, residential and retail sectors across the Middle East.
• Proven track record of leading large, multi‑disciplinary design teams and delivering projects on time and within budget.
• Deep understanding of design standards, FF&E specifications and sustainability practices.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
