Director of Manufacturing (Design-to-Manufacturing)

About the role

The Director of Design-to-Manufacturing leads the transformation of product requirements into scalable manufacturing and test systems for satellite production, ensuring engineering intent is realized in production and supporting launch readiness.

Key responsibilities

• Lead Manufacturing Systems & MGSE, Verification & Validation Test Engineering, and Test Platforms & EGSE teams.
• Convert engineering requirements into production‑ready processes, including work instructions, BOMs, routings, tooling and process validation.
• Oversee test readiness, methods, procedures, scripts, limits and verification evidence.
• Guide development, validation and maintenance of test infrastructure, benches and automation.
• Review designs for manufacturability and testability, collaborating with mechanical, electrical, software and systems engineers.
• Resolve manufacturing and test issues through root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in manufacturing and test engineering for complex hardware.
• Proven technical leadership and coaching across multiple engineering disciplines.
• Strong collaboration with engineering, production, quality, supply chain and program teams.
• Hands‑on problem‑solving ability under pressure, with examples of shipping complex hardware.

Required skills

• Manufacturing Systems and Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE) expertise.
• Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) development and support.
• Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop / Software‑in‑the‑Loop (HIL/SIL) integration experience.
• Design for Manufacturing, Assembly and Test (DFM/DFA/DFT) knowledge.
• Familiarity with ERP/MES production workflow tools.
• Knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality standards (good‑to‑have).
