Director of Pharmacy

About the role

The Director of Pharmacy leads all pharmacy operations at American Hospital Dubai, ensuring safe, effective medication use, compliance with regulations, and high-quality patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee pharmacy staff, budgeting, resources, and policy development.
• Implement and maintain JCIA accreditation standards for the pharmacy.
• Develop and manage drug‑use control systems and quality management studies.
• Supervise scheduling, staffing levels, and equitable assignment distribution.
• Prepare and monitor departmental budgets for equipment, supplies, pharmaceuticals, and personnel.
• Collaborate with medical staff on drug‑use criteria and evaluations.
• Maintain standards for pharmaceutical purchasing and coordinate with Unimed.
• Participate in inter‑departmental committees, recruitment, and continuous quality improvement activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or equivalent.
• Licensure as required by the UAE.
• Minimum five years of supervisory experience in a hospital pharmacy.
• Fluent written and spoken English and Arabic.

Required skills

• Inventory control, drug storage and distribution.
• Drug information, applied pharmacokinetics, and drug therapy monitoring.
• Pharmacy computerization and knowledge of JCIA standards.
• Aseptic techniques for sterile products.
• Understanding of UAE pharmaceutical laws.
