Duty Engineer – Hotel Maintenance

About the role

The Duty Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all hotel engineering systems, machinery and equipment are operational, safe and well‑maintained. Working within an Accor‑affiliated hotel, you will support both guest areas and back‑of‑house facilities, contributing to a seamless and responsible hospitality experience.

Key responsibilities

• Familiarise with the layout and design of guest and service areas and understand related operating procedures.
• Maintain all hotel machinery and engineering plants in a state of readiness, following the preventative maintenance programme.
• Oversee shift duties, complete maintenance records, inventories and reports, and communicate regularly with the Assistant Director of Engineering (ADOE) and Director of Engineering (DOE).
• Ensure compliance with the Safety Management System, including emergency response and fire procedures.
• Inspect completed work for adherence to blueprints, specifications and applicable codes, and coordinate any required rework.
• Assist in developing and implementing preventive maintenance programmes for mechanical equipment and facilities.
• Participate in departmental team‑building activities and task‑force teams for new hotel openings.

Required profile

• University degree in Hotel Management or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar engineering or maintenance role within hospitality.
• Strong leadership, interpersonal and training abilities.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of hotel engineering systems and preventative maintenance practices.
• Familiarity with safety management and emergency response procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and codes.
