EAL Coordinator

About the role

Brighton College Abu Dhabi, a premium British curriculum school for pupils aged 3-18 rated Outstanding by ADEK, is hiring an EAL Coordinator to join its inclusion team. The coordinator ensures that English as an Additional Language pupils across all key stages are supported to thrive academically, socially and emotionally, covering testing, identification and intervention alongside the inclusion team, admissions and classroom teachers.

Key responsibilities

• Test, identify and provide interventions for EAL pupils across all key stages, and ensure they receive appropriate accommodations and access to the general education curriculum.
• Collaborate with the inclusion team and admissions to support EAL pupils from entry through to ongoing provision.
• Provide targeted EAL interventions for individuals and small groups, helping pupils develop English listening, speaking, reading and writing.
• Monitor EAL pupil progress and adjust interventions based on assessment data.
• Support teachers in using effective EAL strategies in the classroom and train staff on EAL best practices.
• Liaise with parents and external agencies as required.
• Help shape EAL policy and provision across the school and keep accurate records of EAL pupils and interventions.

Required profile

• A recognised teaching qualification such as a B.Ed, PGCE, PGDE or equivalent.
• Proven experience in EAL teaching or coordination, ideally within a British curriculum or international school setting.
• Strong assessment and intervention skills, excellent communication and collaboration abilities, and the ability to work with students, staff and families.
• A genuine passion for high-level customer service and a commitment to supporting pupils to thrive.
